Tigers Inn Family Restaurant, Valley Head, Alabama

The latest incarnation of the Tigers Inn Family Restaurant just might be the best yet. We stopped in one Thursday morning about 7:15 for breakfast on the way to Chattanooga.

Great sign on the way in were the guys drinking coffe after breakfast. Young fellers like this having coffee is inverably a sign of good coffee, good food and a friendly atmosphere.

After saying "Good Morning" to the big table, we got a seat and were quickly approached by a very friendly waitress who took our drink orders. My wife ordered the French toast and I decided to have the 2 eggs with biscuit and sausage gravy. The waitress and I had a short discussion as to what "over easy" and "over medium" defined and she was off to fill our order.

The fabulous biscuit and sausage gravy along with a pair of perfectly cooked eggs would have made my grandmother smile. My grandmother was raised in Valley Head/Mentone and must have been through the same cooking "course" as the cook working at the Tigers Inn. The French toast made my wife state simply "I wish I could make French toast like this".

We saw the lunch menu and planned to be back here for lunch the same day but the gathering storms forced us home early. We will return for lunch at our first opportunity as business and friends bring us this way often.

If you are driving I59 near Exit 231, take time to get off the big road and drive the three short miles to the Tigers Inn for breakfast or lunch. It will be well worth the short detour and a welcome addition to your trip.
